Hey Karan:
You might know QDs are semiconductor nanoparticles. Those used
in biology are mostly core-shell type and use surface modification to
make them water soluble. Current research (in medical area) is focused
on making QDs useful for clinical sample imaging or in vivo imaging.
With that in mind, you can look up some review articles by Nie, Jaiswal
or Alivisatos and you should get a pretty good background to get going.
