And I was also wondering about "floating in air of course too."
(the floating is the crazy part I am think I guess.)
:)

I hope it is ok to blab a bit and I hope this will get posted
for those actually interested in this "crazy" idea of floating
nanotubes
I was figuring if you actually build a nanotube
and place helium inside it.
Then build next to that tube using one side as the
side of the next tube.. etc.. and fill it.
and keep surrounding such with tubes that use each others sides,
after a while you could have a higher helium to carbon ratio
(always more carbon unless some architectual tricks can
also be performed)
Maybe even high enough ratio to float on it's own?
Thus you might be able to create a floating platform that would
be pretty strong and last as long as the helium does.

If you don't get what I am talking about with the higher ratio
here is a simple explanation:
I will use square blocks but I think this will show what I mean
basically. (If you can stand reading it)
:)
It would be kinda like a bunch of blocks with a single block
space in the middle for the helium
A single block open space would take 9 blocks for one end wall,
9 blocks for the other end wall and 8 blocks for the center wall
that have one opening in the middle.
A three wall setup would have a ratio of 26:1
Then you add center walls instead of finishing it off so short
each added interior wall would increase 8:1 for this initial "tube"
making a 4 wall end up with 34:2
A fifth wall 42:3 etc.
Then build rows (tubes) on it also creating a better ratio.
A 5 wall by 2 tube setup would end up with a ratio of 69:6
A 10 wall by 2 tube setup would end up with a ratio of 134:16
A 10 wall by 9 tube setup would end up with a ratio of
and so on
Of course I may have gotten some of the ratios wrong but
I am just making quick drawings on paper in front of me.
I know the helium will never get higher than the carbon
but it seems it should be able to get to a good ratio
that it may actually make a difference after a certain size?

Just for fun I think a 9 tube 10 walls would create a ratio
of 418:72
I hope this makes sense.
And the case I used would be if you actually needed
to only allow one empty space.
It would be better with a larger inside of course.
I guess I will shutup now.
I do hope this gets posted at least.
Thinking about such can't hurt can it?
I would love to hear about problems with such an idea
if there is any.
:)
