You can't get rid of me that easily, James.
Also, my time is only particularly limited this week, as I am going on
business travel for half of it.
I've had some in-depth dicussions with John Novak since posting my request
and discovered I had misunderstood a critical sentence in an e-mail he had
sent me earlier this week. I thought he was going to be unable to do much
moderating for an indefinite period, and combining that with me long
standing intent to retire, I issued my request. As it turns out, as John
notes above, he was only going to be scarce for a short period this coming
week.
Bottom line is that I can retire and John can take over all moderation
duties. The factor that compelled me to post the help wanted message was
founded on a false premise.
If John ever feels he needs a backup or replacement moderator, he now has
several qualified candidates to choose from who were kind enough to offer
their time and machine access.
