I believe we're already on a timeline to bring us an assembler in a decade
or so. Massive spending might bring it about a little sooner, but more
likely would cause a backlash against spending all that money that would cut
off almost all funding.
This one device could end poverty, eliminate all disease and provide
near immortality to all. Why isn't the government taking it seriously?
Well, the government has to pay benefits for all those people living
waaaaayyyyyyy past retirement age <g>.
Well, there's the potential of tissue repair that could keep
everyone too youthful and healthy for retirement to have its original
meaning, anyway...but let's wait until it's clearly on the way.
You would think that with over two decades of research, we'd be there
by now, right?
Go ahead, ask about human-level A.I.......
...or controlled fusion.
