On a dark an' dismal Tue, 22 Jul 2008 15:53:16 -0500, in flickering lamplight,
Jim Logajan <JamesL@xxxxxxxxx>
scribed with phoenix qill :
The only thing that appears to have changed is that the fear of molecular
machines has increased with the passage of time.
Well, I think you can blame two possible's for that, Jim.
The first is the way it's reported, the 'media' as they
seem to call themselves.
And Silly science for Horror novels and Movies.
I'll refrain from naming one author i have in mind.
Most people get worried about things they don't
understand, that seems magical in action/effect.
Instead of learning something about it, they appear
(to me at least) to panic.
The number one theme looks something i heard called
the Frankenstein complex.
In gist it is that nature should be left unknown,
and mankind tampers with it and it (or god,) strikes back.
Personally, i've never understood that mind type.
Although i have had my doubts about human wisdom.
Still, we haven't nuked our race off the Earth.
mik :-)
