There are many existing alternative forums or potential forums that are
technically superior. Two well known sites that come readily to mind:

Yahoo Groups (e.g. http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/nanotech/ )

Google's proprietary Groups (i.e. only on http://groups.google.com/)
