If you measure the power dissipation of the source compared to the ouput
power and bandwidth of the emitted light you may be able to conclude
that the source is a laser because filtering with any other known source
could not give the required efficiency. If the source has sufficiently
low efficiency you may not be able to make the determination with certainty.
