SNL x-ray or VuV source



Over the past few years, we have been hearing about how
Sonoluminescence (SNL) may produce fusion, and in fact, the most recent
IEEE Spectrum has an article by a researcher who has fairly good
evidence of such fusion. Fusion sources and such hot sources that
almost produce fusion are blackbody emitters of radiation, typically
with blackbody temperatures in the low KeV region. For comparison, a
fusion weapon is assumed to have an unclassified blackbody temp of 1
KeV. In SNL, the blackbody temp may be changed by altering the
pressure in the bubble if desired. It turns out that near point
sources of such soft x-rays or VuV are desireable for various things
such as x-ray or VuV lithography but are difficult to produce because
of the difficulty of achieving sufficient brightness of the source in a
conventional x-ray tube. Furthermore, such a point source is
desireable for use with x-ray optics because extended sources are
difficult to de-magnify or to collimate the x-ray from. Furthermore,
the spectrum of the source could be furhter modified by addition of a
dopant to the liquid to produce line radiation superimposed on the
blackbody.
The greatest difficulty of this concept is getting the x-rays or VuV
out of the source as the bubbles are in a liquid that will absorb the
low energy radiation. To solve this problem, I propose to cause the
bubbles to occur at the tip of atiny hollow cone or capillary that is
evacuated and the bubbles are caused to form at the tip so that the
x-rays or VuV passes into the hollow portion.
I am intentionally publicly disclosing this x-ray/VuV source concept to
put it in public domain as I currently have too many patents in the
works to finance another. Now that it is in public domain, the concept
is unpatentable although improvements may be.
