I've exported rays out of Zemax with no problem as IGES. When
importing into IronCad (a great solid modeler) I suppress the creation
of solids, that is I leave the model as a wireframe. This is an option
in IronCad, but you may have something similar in Solidworks. In
practice I export/import two files, one with rays and one without that
I convert to solids.
