hi rajesh here,i am doing my master in telecommunication eng ,
latrobe university,australia.
i need solution for the following questions
1) A telecom provider is planning to upgrade an existing system to 2
gb/s. the system will have following parametres:
launch power =1 mw
splice loss =0.1 db/km
minimum detectable power=-35 dbm
total fibre dispersion =2ps/km nm
transmitter rise time=0.1ns
wave length =1550nm
fibre loss=0.2 db/km
connector loss=2 db
system margin =8 db
bit rate=2 Gb/s
source line width=1nm
receiver rise time=0.1ns
a)sketch the power budget graph
b)write the system loss equation
c)calculate maximum link length,without repeators,assuming that system
is attenuation limited
d)recalculate the maimum link lenght assuming that the systen is
dispersion limited and that the sysytem rise time is chosen to be equal
1/2B.use rise time budget approach
e)if the system were to be further upgraded to 10Gb/s what practical
changes would be need to be made to achive the same link length?
