Indeed but not every one has the required programming skills, not to mention
the will, stamina, verve, wherewithal etc.
Also reinventing the wheel is counterproductive and improving upon it,
inasmuch as it can be done, very difficult.
AFAIAC I have with the programs I use the same relationship that I have with
my car, I never open the hood, or at least as rarely as possible, I never
tinker with it, which is not to say that I don't maintain it.
Command line vs GUI, I do not care, as long as long I can do what I want.
Just read the manual and go through the tutorials.
A useful tool to go from A to B safely, economically and comfortably.
In other words I am only interested in the "Toyota Camry" sort of cars and
programs.
The only programming I have ever done was in APL and now I am learning J
(www.jsoftware.com)
