In this case, I'm concerned with transmitted color.
I'm fairly confident of the composition and thickness of the coatings
(SEM, TEM, XPS, and profilometer data). Color temperature and angle of
incidence shouldn't be too much of an issue as the light source (D65)
and angles are the same for the calculations and for the quality
assurance measurements from the production line.
I guess a better way to have worded my question would have been: "Are
the n & k values provided for materials in the software reliable enough
to use as a guide in predicting color?"
From what I gather from your replies' that is not the case-- n&k vary
too much with individual deposition conditions. I will collect some
data n&k data on the materials as deposited at our facility and feed
these into the calculations.
