@v46g2000cwv.googlegroups.com:
Thanks guys, I've been wanting to a see a aurora all my life but like
to sleep, I've been thinking of putting a few PMTs on the roof, (and on
the minivan when I'm on the road) as here in Ohio auroras are few and
far inbetween and tend to occur at 4am when I'm deep asleep. I wanted
to know what else was up there on a daily basis.

I don't know if this would meet your needs, but head over to
http://www.spaceweather.com and check out their "Spaceweather
Phone" service. It's supposed to notify you of aurora.
I don't use it myself as the odds of seeing an aurora from that
perpetual light bubble known as Los Angeles are nil. In fact,
if one were visible here, I'd be looking for a lead lined box
to hide in.
