Re: Wedge in lenses

Bob, it really doesn't matter which glass but it is BK-7 for the record.
Seven tenths of a thou is possible to do as an amateur and is actually more
than I have planned on for the actual wedge in the lenses.
The supprising thing to me is that when playing with putting a wedge in
front of the design in an optics program, the color problem wasn't the
biggest problem that I immediately noticed but rather there is coma that
promptly shows up.
I've talked to others and they seem to be thinking of about 0.003" or so
being the limit for wedge in this application.
Guess that it kind of depends upon what you are looking at for the problem.
I'm doing this scope without any toleranceing info, of course, merely trying
to do it perfect rather than just doing a production type scope. ROC of the
primary mirror is less than 1/4" out from what the design specs as (119"
ROC) which isn't too bad as far as I'm concerned.
