UV hazard from DLP projector lamp (Osram VIP) ?

I'm 're-purposing' the lamp and ballast (Osram VIP type) from a dead DLP video projector for use
with a high-speed video camera. (www.electricstuff.co.uk/ektapro.html)
As the visible light output is approximately "insanely bright", and the IR output makes black
plastic smoke and burn in a few seconds, I was wondering about possible eye/skin UV hazards.
Does anyone know either what the UV content of this type of lamp is, or easy ways to asess the risk
without specialist equipment?
I was planning on putting some glass in front to protect against explosion, so I would imagine that
will kill a lot of the short-wave UV content. Is that likely to be adequate ?
.
