If it is easy to convert solar power to electricity, it probably makes
more sense to transport the electricity at a very high voltage (low
current, low loss), than to transport the light. The losses in fiber
are quite high and for a broadband spectrum such as the spectrum of the
sun a multimode fiber is needed, which are known for their lossy
transmission properties.
