Re: wavefront error at air/glass surface

Hi all,

again a simple question:
Let's assume a disturbed wavefront (with error W1) hits a perfectly flat
air/glass surface. Inside the glass, the wavefront error is W2 = W1 * (n1 /
n2), where n1 is the the refractive index of air and n2 is the refractive
index of the glass.
Is it right that this formula is valid for all angles of incidence?

Michael

No. Except for additional spherical aberration introduced for a
converging cone, the wavefront aberration is unchanged. Remember that
the wavelength changes inside the glass.
