I've read it too, very well done! Also the one from Gregory Hallock
Smith "Practical Computer Aided Lens Design" I found to be useful.
I decided not to get the "Optics" from Hecht because it seemed to more
less specific that others and more for a general introduction like MOE
by Smith.
After your posts I see that I have yet bought many of the suggested
books, apart the 2 from Kidger I'm now pretty interseted in.

I strongly recommend the two Kidger Books to you. The second one is
certainly very useful for understanding the design process as well as
actual design examples.
