Dear Dave

Tkank you for your kind words.

As a long-time sci.optics lurker and occassional participant, I would
like to join the (long) list of well-wishers. I have certainly enjoyed
reading your posts, even though I have never really gotten into the
intricacies of KDP - I quite simply haven't had done that much optical
design.

You have been a colourful participant, and I hope to continue to enjoy
reading your posts for a long time to come.

There are a few poeple wierd and crazy enough to have written optical
design codes.

Ken Moore,]Doug Sinclair, Don Dilworth, Joe Meiron, Murty, Spencer and
Hennessey (ACCOSS-V), the guys at ORA, the fine gentleman who wrote
the code in England and then left us far too soon, the folks who's
names I do not renember that did OPTIKWORKS, Mr Greg Hern who was
kind enough to not hate me for the hasty posts I postesed in 1995, a
friend of mine in Argentina, Frigger Schremp in Germany and one fine
fellow in Italy who's name escapes me becasue of the prescribed meds
I'm on.

While you've probably never come across him, I would also like to
mention my old friend Halvor Heier, who may well be the only full-time
optical designer in Norway - he's certainly the only one I know of who
has written serious optical design code. Some of his work has made its
way into Doug Sinclair's products, so a small part of of the Oslo
package actually did originate in Oslo (the city ...). I have now
completely lost touch with Halvor, so I don't even know whether he's
actually still active in the field. I did some work on his code about
15 years back. His code had some unique features, such as supporting
the optics of water waves, and he also implemented some sophisticated
algorithms for wave calculations in focal regions developed by
professor Jacob Stamnes (currently) of the University of Bergen.
