Support for KDP-2 4.0

Hi guys,

Hi Folks,

Well, I've been off the air for a week. Turns out that even though the
pain was off the scale, it was simply a bulged disk pressing on a
siatic nerve. Treatments are underway so I guess I did not get hit by
the proverbial bus. My wife is kind of happy about that.

Four days in the hospital can really induce cabin feaver. Now I know
how the family dog felt when he got shipped off to the vets while
every one else went on a two week vacation. :-)

I posted KDP-2 version 4.0 and it is free. The only warning is that
although the documentation says the roof and corner cube surfaces are
in, the ray trace has not been updated to recognize them.

Version 5.0, which will be out in Jan (I hope) will have these
operational. It will have the small $49.95/year fee attached to it. I
will also go to my old staggered date for user support. If you buy in
June, you are good till the following June. The Jan 1 only thing seems
to have turned a lot of people off. In reflection, I would not like to
buy software that way myself.

When I put 4.0 up, I had no idea where the pain was coming from and
since I have a vivid and wild imagination, I just did not want KDP-2
to be lost to the folks who use it if I crapped out.

I would advise anyone without back problems to do three things:

1. Don't get fat
2. Lift only with the legs, preferably someone else's :-)
3. Do lots of whatever exercise you can to strengthen the muscles
which hold your back together. (cruch, the toys on TV, the Thigh
Monster etc.

I would advise anyone with back problems to do three things:

1. Get thin
2. Lift only with the legs, preferably someone else's :-)
3. Don't wait to go get help until you need to call 911 like I did.
:-)

I lived for my first 40 years thinking, "Aint gona happen to me".

As my Anthropology 101 professor said in 1964, "You will all have bad
backs because even though you walk upright, all the muscles in your
body are designed for quadrupedal motion with the gut 90 degrees from
where ours are.

Remember, if you have questions or bug reports about 4.0, don't be
shy, ask. The worst that can happen is that I won't know the answer
and that is fairly rare :-)

It is great to be back. I now know what they meant in that TV
commercial years ago, "Better living through Chemistry".
