Hi all,Do you want to simulate sunlight inside or outside the earth's atmosphere? For outside a xenon short arc lamp is probably the closest that's reasonably affordable. For inside the earths atmosphere a xenon arc lamp would need to be filtered to remove the UV short of around 300 nm.
I am for a laboratory setup looking for a lamp with a spectrum and intensity as close to the sun as possible.
I have on different websites found references to HPS lamps mostly used for plant growth (Cannabis etc. -:)
Has anybody ecperiece with such lamps regarding stability (both spectrum and intentisty). Recommendations of specific lamps are very welcome!
You might also consider using a two mirror heliostat. The light from that mimics the sun very well since it is sunlight. The downside is it only works in the daytime and when there's no cloud cover. At least it's quiet and takes very little power to operate.
