Axis of Stereomicroscope does not match

Hallo,
I do not have experience in optical things. There is a
stereomicroscope with switchable 4x and 8x lenses. I use it to solder
very small electronical items. If I look at a small item, it seems to
me, as if the two images left and right do not match and the left one
is downward vertical displaced. If I push a little bit against the
left tube the images do match. There is a adjusting mechanism at the
microscope, which helps me to solve the problem. After adjusting a
colleague of me told me that he has problems to examine his objects
and cancelled the modification. He has to examine larger objects than
me. After his cancellation it is not possible for me to look at my
objects in stereo.
Questions: I had the possibility to compare with two other stereo
microscopes and the problem does not exist there for me. Is it
possible that an ametropia of eyes will cause these different
judgments? We both do not wear eyeglasses. Is there a simple method to
check this problem? Is there a proper pattern, which will help, to
evaluate this problem better?
.
