I use a couple little Perl scripts to throw all the modified bits over
onto our websites. If you like staring at opaque undocumented Perl code,
I could email them to you -- you'd need to modify them a bit to handle
your directory tree, but perhaps it would be worth the effort.

I've been using OpenOffice and Mozilla to build documents, which pretty
much guarantees they won't be too "MS-centric", but it's not an approach
I would recommend to everyone. It also results in a ton of little gifs,
but the Perl scripts help with those.
