You have brought up a few very interesting points which I have asked the
whole newsgroup to explain but with no satisfactory answers still.
** An object in free fall or in orbit experiences no acceleration. An
observer sees this object being under acceleration. OK, gravitational time
dilation results.
** An object rests on a large sphere experiences acceleration (gravity).
An observer on the other hand sees no acceleration. So, does gravitational
time dilation apply? Apparently, it does as well.
So, the Equivalence Principle does not extend to time dilation. According
to General Relativity, time dilation (other than from speed) only occurs
from curved space (interpreted as gravity). Non-gravitational acceleration
should not register time dilation except under speed.
Unfortunately, General Relativity dissolves the Twins Paradox through the
equivalence of acceleration and gravity equally contributing to time
dilation (gravitational time dilation). This is another fine example where
this theory applies double standard in opposite to a phenomenon.

Per the various suggestions of "Harry" <harald.vanlintel@epfl.ch> kindly
donated in the thread, "Summing up a paradox" sci.physics.relativity;
I have changed the wording of my one-page blurb, "Sorting out a Paradox",
found at http://sysmatrix.net/~kavs/kjs/bite.html
Is this more to your liking, Harry? people?
You finally got through to me -- thank you EVER-so much! The gravitational
potential differential is only perceived and computed into her
reckoning by Stella -- whilst Terrence is simply integrating the Lorentz
tranform over the course of Stella's apparent journey! RIGHT?? ie. no
pseudo-forces in Terrence's reckoning? Eureka. And no, I have nothing better
to do. Many thanks!
[Ie. Earthbound Terrence & astronaut Stella of the oft-cited twin paradox]
