Surely you recall the experiment with a electric door-bell inside a
bell-jar. When the air is pumped out of the jar, the sound is
interrupted but the door-bell is plainly visible. This would seem to
cast some doubt on your statement: << Air is a medium for light just
as it is for sound. >>
