Look.... lets not descend into psychotic mysticism. Theology
is simpler than Chess... especially now that we have the scientific
theory of it laid out before us.
1. Satan is a (psychotic) personality type... very common
and no longer the overwhelming concern it once was to
either mainline religion, nor "scientific" religion either.
The classical "satanic" personality type is typically
a psychotic/schizoid personality produced by the
union of a brunette, Left wing neurotic personality
(usually the mother), and a possibly blonde
Right wing manic personality type. What we get
from such a union (presuming a dysfunctional
family background) is a "split" or schizoid personality
type prone to strong psychotic development.
Torn between two worlds which are at war
psychologically... this personality converts his
"Left wing fear of domination" into a "Right wing
mania of persecution", and therefore becomes the
exemplar of all heretical and excessive personality
types. Adolph Hitler may fairly be taken as histories
prime example of this age old phenomena.
Today, what with mass media entertainment,
and modern psychological savvy, this personality
syndrome is so well known and understood, that it
is far less of a threat to society than it was historically,
or even 60 years ago.
2. "God" on the other hand, is NOT a "personality type",
but is a "developmental-growth phenomenon" which
is common to ALL MEN, not merely certain
personality types. Therefore, God and Satan are
not even in the same category, scientifically
(or even theologically) speaking.
The main difference then between the longsuffering
faithful and the "satanic heretic"... is simply the difference
between the normal and the psychotic person. The
average person is willing to countenance the rational
explanation that "God" is a mental phenomena common
to all people and a human burden we all must deal
with. The psychotic personality in his rush to judgement
presumes it is a "competitive phenomena" which is to
be taken advantage of... and soon realizes that he has
a special position in this psychological war... and
instead of taking a constructive and courageous
stance.... decides on a course of manipulation,
heresy, and even criminality. Such cases are usually,
but not always, associated with low intelligence.
Today, thankfully, due mostly to Hollywood and
mass media education, the public is far more aware
of the psychotic personality, and it poses a far smaller
social threat than in the past, the fact that millions of
psychotic personality types still occupy our modern
penal system notwithstanding.
Anyway... Goofballs, lets not presume that this is an amateur
discussion and that your hoi paloi jerkwater backwoods
litanies about Satan and God are impressing anyone... we're
already talking over your head despite your extensive
"Biblical learning" and "Philosophical expertise" or
whatever you intend to call your particular forte.
Sorry.... "Poker has gone up" recently, and if you can't
ante up please get out of the game... house rules.
