A dumb question about time..

....what is it?
Sorry to bother you but this really is driving me crazy, and maybe
somebody has an answer for me.
I we know that time is a condition of the time-space construct,
but isnt it kind of unique in this respekt by having a direction?
What makes me really curiose is the fact that in neuroscience it is well
be possible to "switch off" timesensation completely, leaving the person
timeless.
Is time real, or just a kind of interpretation of something totally
different.
And if it is so, is it just our interpretation or our invention?
Any answers?
