Frames of refrence


The next time you want to delay a dental appointment
or some other distastful task here is how you do it.

Gather up a lawn chair, a felt tip marker, a pair of sun
glasses, a grandfather clock and an icy cooler of your
favorite bev'.

Park your bottom in the chair, facing the clock with
the cooler in easy reach. Draw a cross hair
on each lens of the glasses and put them on.

Start rocking left and right so you can keep the
clocks pendulum centered on the cross hairs.

If you can't reach the cooler doing this, move it
closer and start over.

As long as you rock so the crosshairs (your frame of
reference) stay centered on the pendulum, the pendulum
will be stopped... in your frame of reference. Time
will stand still.

Depending on the alcohol content inside the cooler
a dental appointment can be delayed by as much as six
hours. Reportedly, vists to inlaws have been postponed
up to several days when two people can take turns
sitting in the chair and rocking. :o)
