You misread the article, and pluralized improperly. Your statment implies that "black holes" were produced two at a time. You also forgot the conditional that was in the original article.
The proper statement is: duals of black holes MAY have been created in the lab. That is, the original paper speculated that mathematics dual to that of black holes could be used to describe the observations. Such duality is extremely important in string theory....
If this can be substantiated, it might give string theory its first experimental test. Or it might not (it's nontrivial to do experimental tests on black holes)....
