I re-read this a few days later and I still don't see what you're
trying to get at.
If you were trying to say the E field should, in this particular case,
transform as
E' = E/g
not as
E = E'/g
because you need to transform from the moving frame to the lab frame,
why didn't you just say so?
And if that's not what you were trying to say, then what was the
point you were making?

Yes, that's correct. It makes it clearer that B can be zero (or
small) in the moving frame and necessarily nonzero in the laboratory
frame.
