Ok, well, the first thing to teach him is v = x/t, then work up to v =
dx/dt.
I don't think he wants to learn, though. I think he wants to present
himself
as a smart-arse who knows all about relativity, which probably works ok
for him in everyday life since few people can actually challenge him on
it,
but when he gets in a newsgroup he's totally lost.
It's the same with assistant professor Paul B. Doppler actually.
He thinks oscillations have a "length".
All they really have is a duration. If you give an oscillator some
velocity
v then the "wavelength" is vt, and that's v/f by definition of f = 1/t.
Still, it is fun jerking chains.
I don't think any relativist truly understands Galilean relativity, or
as
Einstein calls it, the "Principle of Relativity". Half of them think
the sun crosses the sky rather than the Earth turning to face the sun.
