Yes. But the prevalence of cranks does not help. And the mistakes they did
make have been analyzed for some time and are well known.

Current theory (including the theory of tides which only requires Newtonian
gravity - but of course Newtonian gravity is a limiting case of GR) is based
on GR where gravity is not an attraction between masses - it is space-time
curvature.

Curvature of space is just a real and experimentally verified as the
curvature of space-time - in fact it follows from the curvature of
space-time. Since it is the curvature of time that is the dominant effect
in weak fields the curvature of space-time is better verified.
