Re: Three Ring Circus

To Sue and PD

The equasions for time dilation and contraction for linear motion
are the same as those for circular motion, with the exception that in
the case of a disk or circular track these are absolute relative to an
observer stationary to the center or the track.
My question is, how can the velocity additions of relativity which
dictate the 2, 7, 26, 97....increases in gamma, for each train to see
the next train over to have its time dilation/contraction doubled, be
reconciled with the 2, 4, 8, 16 increases that an observer stationary
to the tracks would see if each successive train had a time
dilation/contraction twice as great as the one before it.
Using a straight track would defeat the purpose of the presentation
of this paradox.
The rings would have a common axis, and the trains would be 2, 7
and 26 times the circumference of the rings when stationary and
uncontracted so that measurements could be made anywhere and anytime.
Using a track rather than a disk keeps the thought experiment
within the rhelm of the theoretically plausible, within the strength of
matter, assuming a track circumference of light years.
