Hmm... I'd go along with: "lengths and rates really change!"
Too subtle? The point is that the values of the changes are only apparent,
due to the (lack of) calibration of our instruments.

I agreed with O'Barr (even if I am not a LET fan). Changes in lengths
and rates are real. After knowing in some detail about the behavior of
the Global Positioning System (GPS), I have not any daubt about it. The
calibration of atomic clocks in GPS satellites is a master piece of
today engineering, putting out of any reasonable daubt that the change
in time rate on all the clocks used in the GPS are completely real
ones. The word "apparent" has no place in the daily routine of GPS,
and the same can be said for the word "aether".
