No, not at all. There is no displacement in an EM wave.
Sure there is....EM wave is a wave in the ether medium.
A displacement in an ether medium would produce easily observed
thethat have been tested in experiment. Those effects were not seen. A
theory that produces predictions that are direct conflict with
experiment gets chucked.
So what are the effects of displacement that have been tested? What is
makingdifferent between displacement in a medium and fields?? Are you just
assertions as your arguements??
Sure. For example, in a displacement wave in a medium, the rest
(undisplaced) state of the medium is the reference point against which
the speed of a signal propagates through the medium. Thus, by measuring
the speed of a signal in any two directions through the medium with
respect to another arbitrary point, you can always determine the motion
of the medium with respect to the latter reference point. By choosing
directions, you can quickly pinpoint this motion without fail. This
will work in every single instance of a medium-carried signal. However,
it does not work with light.
Also, in a medium the speed of propagation is always directly connected
to two other measurable quantities: the coupling strength of the medium
(called shear modulus for a transverse wave) and to the inertia density
of the medium. For instance, by measuring the speed of propagation of
S-waves from an earthquake epicenter, geologists can measure the shear
modulus and mass density of the Earth's mantle as a function of depth
and compare that to the same quantities measured by independent means.
Assuming that light is carried by a medium produces values for the
coupling strength and inertia density that are known to be inconsistent
by orders of magnitude with the same quantities measured by independent
means.
In a displacement wave in a medium, the OWS isotropy is *never* --
repeat, *never* -- independent of frame of reference, nor can it be.
With light, OWLS is *always* -- repeat, *always* -- independent of
frame of reference.
There are other experiemental distinctions between a displacement wave
in a medium and a wave of medium-less fields. I've only listed three.
You based your opinion on an incorrect model of ether. With the E-Matrix as
the ether all the problems you attributed to a medium disappear. The fields
you described are the distortions in the E-Matrix and the interaction of a
real particle with a virtual particle is the reaction of a real particle
with the distortions (fields) in the E-Matrix.
