Re: Three Relativistic Reasons That We can't go FTL

GR covers horizon to horizon. It works with the physics known here, and maps "pretty successfully" back to the beginning of the Universe, and into the far distant future. So some people are looking to parallel dimensions/Universes for "over and beyond". Others note that GR as a classical theory fails at the quantum level, so seek to tunnel under GR.

I'm not sure what "maps "pretty successfully" back to the beginning of the Universe" means.

We don't even know for sure that there was a beginning.

How do we know that GR "maps "pretty successfully" into the far distant future"?

Whatever that may mean, there remains the question of how can we know if we're not there yet?

We know that "more power" will not get us to the nearest stars in a single person's lifetime, with either GR or Newton. Some cannot even accept that.

We don't "know" any such thing. We just "accept that" based on current models.

And models are free creations of the human mind - and therefor just as fallible.

Just look at your history books.

What you see here on this newsgroup is what is necessary for all those cranks that need to feel special, that need to feel that they have been heard, and that they are striking a blow (for or) against the ignorance they see. This requires an audience. Thank you for participating!

What you see here on this newsgroup is people having fun.

Striking a blow against ignorance is futile. You might just as well strike a blow against sex.

Humans are built the way they are and ignorance must always triumph in the long run.

People like to be happy and ignorance is bliss.
