It sure was. That was rather well-known at the time; in fact "mu-pi"
barely counted as a "nym" in that AFAICR, MV didn't seem to make any
particular effort to keep his identity concealed when posting as mu-pi.


Perhaps you didn't notice that Steve Carlip, Tom Roberts, Bilge, and Tim
Shuba weighed in on that thread?

It was a long thread. The comments which were apposite to the paper in
question appeared to be those regarding the author, and at least the first
few of those came from Varney. After the second or third ad hominem from
Varney in the thread I lost interest in it.


Whatever corner you feel you have to place me in, in your mind, is OK
with me. I did *try* not to find a single source that was only slamming
PMB.

Sorry; that was not apparent to me when I looked at the thread you
