Because I asked Tom Roberts to stop yelling per established nettiquette?
Exagering a little are we shuba?
Typing one or two words in caps is NOT considered to be yelling, it is one
of the proper ways to indicate _emphasis_. There *are* other ways to
emphasis words also. The author has the choice of how s/he wishes to
emphasis specific words.
Some people don't yell every word when they are yelling. I know a very long
time ago, if I was going to raise my voice for emphasis it wouldn't be for
everyword. I assumed that's what roberts was doing. You know what though?
This problem would never have existed if Tom answered my question years ago
by saying "I use that for emphasis and not for yelling or raising my voice."
But instead he ignored me.
When dealing with others on usenet, it is considered 'good manners' to
overlook small transgressions and spelling errors, ..
How about you getting Androcles to understand that. Then again he uses it as
an excuse to insult my intelligence and swear at me and not because I made
an error spelling.
..only correcting someone
when they wrongly "correct" others repeatedly or are particularly
offensive
in how they make their corrections.
I totally agree. I rarely if ever correct someone's spelling, especially
since I'm almost 90% positive I have dyslexia so I'd be a fool to attempt to
correct others. Ah well. I'll know more soon enough. I took a battery of
tests because of serious problems I was having with memory. Perhaps if that
is cured then I won't have this spelling problem.
Best wishes and thanks for the advice
Pete
