You can turn off and turn on the light source in a Sagnac

state of rotation.
A Sagnac apparatus has no memory.
Do not dare even THINK about showing me pages from the
operations manual of an inertial guidance system showing
the need to calibrate the apparatus on a non-rotating
platform. An inertial guidance system needs to INTEGRATE
the x, y, and z outputs from its contained ring gyro in
order to obtain current heading information; likewise
the inertial guidance system needs to doubly integrate
the outputs from its x, y and z accelerometers in order
to obtain current displacement from the last waypoint.
