And H.E. Retic says:
... Modern Physics seems to have been taken over
by mathematical idiot savants who lack an
appreciation for the implications of mechanism and
strive to suppress the contributions of those who
would dare to say "Hey, wait a minute"

O'Barr comments:
I well understand his feelings. There really is
full justification for what this man feels!

And you're not alone! Quite some modern physicists are not satisfied with
theories of physics that are devoid of physical explanations, as is
demonstrated by the extensive discussions about "realism" in QM. Already in
1921 Sir Oliver Lodge commented in Nature:

"It is undeniable that mathematicians, with a self-denying ordinance about
coefficients, can thus attain remarkable criteria, and are able to
anticipate definite results; but we need not seek to engraft their modes of
expression on the real world of physics."

And he complained about the attitude of "relativists" concerning MMX:

"A relativist, not caring in the least which or whether either of these sets
of measurements has any absolute meaning [...]. Hence everybody should be
satisfied, without any appeal to, or confirmation of, any physical theory
whatever. The null (or dull) result of the experiment now requires no
explanation"
