That is an idiotic thing to say. A "troll" is someone who
posts outrageous statements in order to generate outraged
responses.

I was claimed of being a troll the other day myself. I'm reading a book
called "Atheism" and thought that discussing it with atheists would be a
good idea. So I went to an atheist newsgroup. I wanted to start with that
basics so I posted the question "What is an atheist" or something like that.
I think I really said was that there are two kinds of atheists. (1) Someone
who has no theist beliefs (hence and a-theist, or atheist, i.e. from the
Greek "without God") and (2) then there is those who believe that God does
not exist (which, of course, can never be proven) and I left a (3) to fill
in in case I missed something. I was then called a troll by one or more of
the people posting there. It appears to me that a lot of atheists who post
in the internet are real assholes..

Eric's statements are *responses* to stupid
outrageous posts like yours. Responding to people like you
is called "feeding a troll" rather than being a troll.
It's just as bad, in its own way, but it is a distinct vice.
