In the movie "Galaxy Quest", some aliens receive Earth broadcasts of
a sci-fi TV series describing a space ship powered by a big
Beryllium sphere. Thinking the technology is real they actually
build one.
My guess is, if earthling physicists tried really really hard,
they could also build a space ship powered by a big Beryllium sphere.
It may take tons of supporting technology and it may not be the most
efficient solution.
But then, efficiency is relative.
