There have been a significant number of newsposts from individuals who
have equated the suggestion that to assert the existence of the Aether is
a form of charlatanism.
The sort of 'aether' that is still possible to exist (that hasn't been
refuted) is nothing like the aether before MMX and SR. That sort of fixed
aether is refuted. The aether of LET is indetectable, so its existence or
not is unimportant as far as doing physics. Others equate etehr with the
'fabric' of spacetime or with fields. That's really just hanving the old
aether label on something very different.
These assertions apparently come from the same individuals who assert that
the Special Theory of Relativity has proven that the Aether does not
exist.
Noone who knows SR claims that. SR only shows that an aether is not
required in order to correctly model reality.
