Einstein also needed 'rigid rods' (now, no sniggers). This was as much
a fantasy as his reference-frame filled with mythical, microscopic
clocks distributed at every point throughout space. (Hint: if you use
rigid rods you can generate simultaneous responses throughout the
universe, you just need a longer rod.)
Its a good thing there is no such thing then
