HAHAHAHA!
Olson actually does believe in tick fairies!
A non-relativistic situation for you to ponder:
A trumpeter on a train plays A-440. That is, the air
in his vicinity vibrates 440 beats per second.
The train is pulling away from you, so due to
Doppler effect what you hear is 436 Hz, i.e. the
air in your vicinity is beating 436 times per
second.
Every second the trumpeter emits 440 beats. Every
second 436 beats reach you.
Does this require "beat fairies"? How is this
possible? Should we laugh off the idea of Doppler
shift of sound? Have we just proved it's impossible?
Androcles fell asleep on the first line, but
perhaps Henri will respond.

Stick the trumpeter on Concorde at mach 2.,as a relativist I would say
that is shooting yourself in the foot but then again, maybe you can
send everyone on a wild conceptual goosechase based on referencing
theories off the speed of sound.Maybe there will be a guy here in ten
years getting all hot and bothered and exclaiming "trumpets measure
sound !" just like "watches measure time !".
At least your peers are turning sensible (in a small way),they may be
leaving you stranded but I doubt if you will mind.
