Eric Gisse has a way to send any answer he does not like to a
newsgroup called alt.morons. Eric is going to fit right into the
scientific world once he gets out of school. The only thing Eric
seems to have trouble with is frames of reference, but I am sure
scientists will forgive him that little weakness, considering his
computer expertise.

Hi Rob
Other people have done that in the past, bilge being the most famous
example. bilge was one of those people who seem to have a problem admitting
their errors. Seems like an insecurity to me, or perhaps a fear. The fear
being that if he admitted to a mistake then others would frame him and
remind him of it for the rest of his online life. You know what? He's right.
This is quite unfortunate because it means that people here are deterred
from admitting their errors and thus decreases that value of discussions on
this and other newsgroups.
Also, what people do and say here do not represent what is done and said in
real life. If people here treated others they work with like they treat
people online then they'd be in serious trouble. This is how the proverbial
coward executes his cowardly acts. They take no responsibility for their
actions so they do what they can to hurt others. Its called cyber-bullying
and is becoming a very serious problem. In fact there was a young lady who
was treated so badly by a very nasty person that the girl committed suicide.
Eventually something like that will happen here. I believe that is very
likely that some people come here to discuss physics and are treated so
badly that it has a very negative effect on that person. There was a lowlife
scumbag here a while back who saw that I had cancer in the past and used
that fact to flame me. I mean that's a very sick person since it is an
extremely sick thing to do. In fact he became a cyber-stalker and followed
me a cancer support group and flamed me there as well as attempted to
persuade the cancer patients there to form a negative opinion of me.
Fortunately those people knew me too well. Since I helped a lot of people
deal with their cancer they jumped all over his case and he was readily
banned. His university found out what he was doing with their computers and
the end result was that he stopped posting. Personally he deserved whatever
he got. In fact if it were me making the laws he'd be in jail now for a very
sick and discussing act of harassment. I mean really! Who goes to a cancer
forum and does that? What kind of sicko could do such a thing??
Best to ignore them. If you have Microsoft Outlook Express then there is a
"Block Sender" function which will allow all of a specific person's messages
to be blocked. However there are other sickos out there, like Rhetic, who
constantly change their name/e-mail address so that they can't be blocked.
There are a lot of sick people out there Rob. Best to ignore them.
Especially since you can't be sure of the psychological effect that your
responses are having on the people you believe should be flamed. But it took
me many years to get to a point where I could do that. I guess becoming a
devout Christian has helped a great deal.
Best wishes
Pete
