How difficult is it to split CO2 into C and O ?
Plants do it all the time.
If there were an effective way of splitting this molocule then we
would be able to make Carbon into a solid (or Diamonds...heheh) and
Oxygen to breathe.
Perhaps you can use genetic engineering to modify plants so they turn CO2
directly into diamond rather than cellulose and using bacteria and pressure
to turn that into coal and eventually diamond.
OR
maybe we could store it in tanks, adjust the concentration, and use it
as fertalizer in the rain forests, or maybe even on the Corn that
everybody seems to be starving for.
There is a slight problem. It takes energy to capture the CO2.
In order to make the energy, we need to burn fuel, which makes more CO2.
......
My
point is that by just capturing and burying CO2, were not getting rid
of it, We are just setting the stage for it to be someone elses
problem. We need a way to recycle it into something usefull.
Yep. And it costs energy to capture CO2.
.....
Unrelated: There seems to be a formula for energy production. Energy
Output is directly proportional to the risk involed. (More risk, more
energy)
The problem is that it will call for global co-operation. For example,
Africa decides that they are not going to share there solar energy.
What then? Not to mention, you cant make bombs out of it, so the
military wont be interested until all the petro is GONE.
Welp, those are my thoughts anyway, any other ideas?
Yep. We need to crawl out of the cradle.
Once we move all our industries out into space, we have all the energy we
need. Want more energy? Make a bigger mirror.
We have all the raw materials we need, floating around. Just capture and mine
the asteroids.
That also removes the hazard of them smacking into us as S-L 9 did to
Jupiter.
Right now, we have all our eggs in one basket and the basket is overcrowded,
and crumbling under the load.
