I agree...so what is your point? The track observer will see the
flashes to be simultaneous at time 0.5L/c. The track observer will
predict that the train observer sees the flashes to be simultaneous at
time 0.5L*gamma/c according to the track clock.
Which means that whenever the train's speed exceeds c*sqrt(0.5), the
train observer won't see the light flash until AFTER he's passed the

M' is between M and a light source, and you "think" light from the
source gets "absorbed by M" and that prevents it from reaching M'?
That's how Einstein's gedanken set up. He said that the reat light ray
will hit M (and thus absorbed by M) but then it continue on to hit M'
which is impossible since it has already been absorbed.
I didn't think that at all. I think that two light rays from the light
spheres will hit M simultaneously and two different light rays from
the light spheres will hit M' simultaneously.
Seto, M' is between M and the light source that M' is heading toward -
it's obvious to 4-year olds that the light reaches M' before it
reaches M.

However, if you're willing to make yourself a public laughingstock by
obliviously arguing that point, in order to get people to talk to you,
I'm more than willing to help you do that.


Seto doesn't see things that way. He thinks that physics is all based
on assumptions and logic, and that it is the assumptions and logic
that make the most sense to him that wins. He is now fully emotionally
committed to his own "theory" for reasons that have to do with his
concerns about personal legacy. This means that, whenever he
encounters an argument that flies in the face of what he believes, he
feels he has license to call that a bad assumption and to substitute
one of his own. In this way, he is perfectly happy to say that
*anyone's* arguments, not just Einstein's but Newton's if necessary,
are based on "bogus assumptions".

Seto has no idea how validity in science is determined. He wants so
badly for that determination to be based on sensible explanation,
plausible assumptions, and logic,

He has insulated himself from external derision and internal shame,
and so unwrapping of his ignorance will ever cause him to change his
mind. Unlike a scientist, he no longer allows himself to be wrong --
about anything -- and so he can never learn anything further.

Till recently, I thought Seto's motivation was pretty much as you described it here, PD, but lately the extra-extraordinary stupidity he's been displaying makes me question whether it's been a decade long act.
