Then what is Charles Darwin going backwards to, if he's dead?
He is going backwards toward whatever he put together for himself in
his mortal life. I would suspect that he is going backwards toward
his ideas about evolution.

How does someone who is dead go backwards, Bobby?
Are you having difficulty connecting to reality?
PD
Do you think I am having difficulty connecting with reality? Why do
you think I am having difficulty connecting with reality.
Charles Darwin had no place to go when he died.
Except, according to you, backwards toward ideas.
Erasmus, his father,
had not gotten through to his son. Charles did not believe in God
even after listening to all of his father's preaching.
Whatever gave you that idea? Have you ever read a biography about
Darwin?

I never have. I was never that interested in Darwin.
And that give you license to make up whatever you want about him, as
suits your whim?

You seem to be claiming that I said something false about Charles
Darwin. What exactly was it you disagreed with?
You said that Charles did not believe in God. Wherever did you get
that idea?- Hide quoted text -

I do not believe that Charles Darwin believed in God.
I think this was my point, Bobby. You believe what you want to
believe, even if you have to make up "facts" to support what you
believe. You do not seek to determine if what you believe is supported
by documented facts, and you are happy to stick with what you make up.
To you, this works fine, and it promotes your own happiness and
lifestyle.
However, scientists do not operate this way, and they find this way of
operating rather unfortunate and ill-advised.
You do not like how scientists operate. That's certainly your choice.
I do not like how scientists operate. Scientists refuse to discuss
the following equations simply because they discarded them a century
ago.
And they discarded them because of the other thing about how
scientists operate that you don't like -- reference to experimental
data. I understand that you just prefer to decide what you want to
believe, and make up "facts" to support what you want to believe. This
is going to continue to be the basic rift between you and scientists.
x'=x-vt
y'=y
z'=z
t'=t
They would rather impose a length contraction because it keeps them
in control of human thought
Do you think scientists are controlling your thoughts, Bobby?
Has anyone recommended medication to treat that?
Scientists are not controlling what I think. I do not believe what
scientists say.
I don't believe that scientists are controlling anybody's thoughts.
However, some people do believe what they say. It's possible, Bobby,
just possible, that those people believe what scientists say, and they
are right. You are free to believe what you want, but just because
they don't agree with you doesn't mean they're under mind control..
PD-
Well, of course, you are welcome to your own opinion, PD.
Is it your opinion that scientists are trying to control your
thoughts, Bobby?
Is it your opinion that people who don't agree with you are having
their thought controlled by scientists, Bobby?

Scientists are trying to control the thoughts of all people, PD. That
is one of the goals of science. People in psychiatric science used to
give me a drug called thorazine because they were trying to control my
thoughts.
You don't suppose it had something to do with trying to remove the
delusion of scientists trying to control your thoughts?
I'm glad we're having this conversation, Bobby. I'm just trying to
determine much of a nutjob you are, exactly. I think anybody, and not
just psychiatrists, would do the same.
You spend hours and hours writing inane posts about
psychology in this newsgroup to me because you want me to stop using
the Galilean transformation equations.
I never said any such thing. Are you trying to tell me what I'm
thinking, Bobby? Doesn't that sound like what you think psychiatrists
were trying to do to you, Bobby? Don't you feel a little guilty acting
like a psychiatrist?
Why would I act, PD? Do you think that everyone is playing a part
because you are?
