HK says they would not.

Are you sure about that?

Bruce is right, the travelling clock will show a different elapsed
time than the one left on Earth.

Looks like you're wanting things both ways.  In H-K the reason for the
clock
different when planes flying opposite direction reunite at their
starting
location is that they have travelled different speeds and distances in
the
*inertial* frame of the earth.  And now you say if they travel the
SAME
speed and distance in the inertial frame of the eath, they will be out
of
sync according to H-K.

This is not what I said,

Yes it is.

learn how to read.

Learn yourself

I said that the
"travelling clock" will show a different elapsed time than the clock
left behind on the surface of the Earth (this was also Bruce's
statement).

And now you've said it again.  Learn to read.  Do you even understand the
situation (now snipped from the replies) ??

So .. what would happen if we moved the clocks apart at the same speed
according to the (almost) inertial frame of the center of the earth.

Jekyl,

After all this time you've been away, you haven't changed one iota,
you still can't follow instructions and you still think you are right
no matter how many times you are proven wrong.

I think you're talking about yourself again

There is NO "moving appart" of the clocks.

Yes .. there was .. I was the one posing the question.  I know exactly what
there was.  You snipping it dishonestly doesn't change that.

What Bruce told you was

I am the one that set up this scenario, not Bruce.

that one clock is left AT REST on the surface of the Earth and the
other was flown around (at an ARBITRARY speed such that you can't come
up with clever last gasp ideas).

No .. I explicitly stated the speed was such that the clocks are moving at
the same speed relative to the inertial frame at center of earth .. the same
one you mentioned.

In case you missed it when you snipped it out . .this is what I am asking
(clarified for you in case you didn't follow it before)

Consider two clocks in sync together fixed on earth surface.  Put them on
the equator for simplicity.  One stays fixed on the earths surface, the
other moves in the opposite direction to earth's rotation (so it heads
westward) at a speed (relative to the earths surface) that is twice earths
speed of rotation.  Half a day later, the clocks reunite.  Will they be in
sync.

No they will not be in sync.

Ken Seto

When the clocks are reunited, they
show DIFFERENT elapsed time. I left for you as an exercise to find out
what the difference is. Here is the exercise again:

Yes .. I know that excercise.  This is a different (tho similar) puzzle that
I posed for Bruce.

"The second clock is flown East to West at the speed v. Find out the
desynchronization between the two clocks when they get reunited. Use
math" (i.e. stop armwaving).

Obviously that is what you are still doing now.  Why is it you accuse others
of your own faults?

Now.  Back to the scenario and questions I posed for Bruce.  Do you have
anything worthwhile to say about that?- Hide quoted text -
